Lifting Heavy Objects

Team Lifting Policy

  1. Importance of Team Lifting:
    • At Smash Booth, some of our equipment pieces and setups are heavy and awkward to handle alone. To prevent injuries and ensure efficient operations, it’s essential to always lift these items as a team.
    • Team lifting helps distribute weight evenly and reduces the risk of musculoskeletal injuries.
  2. Guidelines for Lifting:
    • Assess the Load: Before lifting, always assess the weight and size of the item. If it appears too heavy or cumbersome for one person, do not attempt to lift it alone.
    • Communicate: Coordinate with your teammates. Clearly communicate your plan, including who will lift which part and where you will move the item.
    • Use Proper Technique: Bend your knees, keep your back straight, and lift with your legs. Avoid twisting your body while lifting. When possible, use the tools around you to reduce the amount of weight you must bare. For example, levering an item into you car instead of lifting unassisted.
    • Take Breaks: If you feel fatigued, take a break and hydrate. Do not continue lifting if you are feeling physically strained.
  3. When to Seek Help:
    • Always Ask: If you are unsure about the weight of an item or feel that you cannot lift it safely, always ask for assistance.
    • Use Tools: Utilize dollies, hand trucks, and other lifting aids available to minimize physical strain.
